15 August Speech in English

Good morning everyone,

Respected Principal, Honorable Teachers, Distinguished Guests, and my dear friends,

Today, I feel truly honored to stand before you on the occasion of India’s 79th Independence Day. Every year on 15th August, we celebrate the day when India became free from British rule in 1947, after a long and courageous struggle led by our great freedom fighters.

We remember and salute the sacrifices of legends like Mahatma Gandhi, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Rani Lakshmibai, Chandrashekhar Azad, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and countless unsung heroes who dedicated their lives so that we could live in a free and democratic nation.

Independence is not just about freedom from foreign rule. It also means having the responsibility to build a stronger, cleaner, safer, and more united India. As citizens, we must respect our Constitution, obey the law, protect the environment, and treat every individual with dignity and equality.

India has made remarkable progress in science, technology, education, healthcare, sports, agriculture, and space exploration. Our achievements prove that when 1.4 billion people work together with determination, nothing is impossible.

However, our journey is not yet complete. Challenges such as poverty, corruption, pollution, illiteracy, and social inequality still exist. The real tribute to our freedom fighters is not only remembering their sacrifices but also working every day to overcome these challenges.

The youth of India have a special role to play. By studying sincerely, developing new skills, respecting our culture, embracing innovation, and serving society, we can make India a global leader and help achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat.

On this Independence Day, let us take a pledge to be honest, responsible, and compassionate citizens. Let us contribute to our nation in every possible way, no matter how small the effort may seem.

As our national motto reminds us, “Satyameva Jayate” – Truth Alone Triumphs.

I would like to conclude with the inspiring words:

“Freedom is our greatest strength, unity is our greatest power, and India is our greatest pride.”

Let us proudly say:

Jai Hind!
Vande Mataram!
Bharat Mata Ki Jai!

Thank you.
